Competitive Program Overview

 

We offers a variety of progressive training programs in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.  We are here to help competitive gymnasts grown into confident, strong and skilled athletes. Every program is designed for a specific age group and skill level.

 

Demo Program (5 - 7 y.o.)

Our Demo program is a stepping stone to our Pre-competitive & Interclub programs. Athletes learn to channel their energy while developing flexibility, strength, coordination and skills required for competitive gymnastics. Athletes in this program do not yet attend external competitions. Physical Ability Testing & Evaluation are required prior to enrolment.

Commitment - 6 hours per week

Pre-Competitive Program (7 - 8 y.o.)

The Pre-Competitive program is designed for athletes that possess appropriate physical and psychological qualities to participate in the sport at a competitive level. Throughout the year, gymnasts will be given the opportunity to participate in Invitational Gymnastics competitions. These events introduce our gymnasts to the atmosphere of competitive meets.

Commitment - 8 hours per week

Competitive Interclub Program (9 - 18 y.o.)

The goal of the program is to prepare athletes for a specific competitive level. Gymnasts learn the skills, routines, build stamina, develop discipline to help them succeed during competitions. All participants take part in 3 Invitational meets through the season.

Commitment - 8 to 12 hours per week

Provincial & National Competitive Programs (9-18 y.o.)

The Provincial & National Level gymnastics requires a unique range of physical and psychological qualities. Athletes must have the desire, aptitude and discipline to undertake the type of training regime required to attain success at this competitive level. Training in the competitive program focuses on physical conditioning, disciplined training, and technical & psychological preparation. Each athlete will learn routines specific to their age and level and will participate in 3 to 4 competitions per season including Qualifiers, Invitationals and Championships.

Commitment - 16 to 20 hours per week

  • Program Enrollment: Enrolment in a competitive program is by invitation only and is offered to athletes currently enrolled in our Advanced Programs. If you are new to our club, you may arrange for an evaluation. Please kindly call our office to inquire (416) 638-3033

  • Commitment: This is a 12-month program and commitment is required for the entire duration of the program. Regular season training hours are consistent from September to June and summer modified training in offered in July and August. Minor schedule changes may occur during holiday and competitions.

  • Competitions: Discovery Gymnastics participates in 3 to 4 invitational competitions per training season.
